Dear Students and Families,

Summer is here! Hope everyone is off to a great one and making the most of it.

Our family took our first ever visit to the Wisconsin Dells region right after Memorial Day. Lots of geographic and scenic beauty and more waterparks per square mile than anywhere in the world. Our favorite was the “Hurricane” at the Glacial Hills Resort. We also did our very first ZipLine! I’m not really good with heights but I didn’t cry (that much), definitely out of my comfort zone but proud to be able to keep up with the kids. Granny even did it!

We hope it will be a great summer for your whole family.

Here for whatever you need. Best to each!

MORE News…

New Sheriff in Town! – We are proud to welcome Emily Stark to our Admin Team. Already one of our treasured violin, voice and early childhood specialists, Emily has stepped up to an organizational role in this important time in the growth of the Academy. Look for info and messaging from Emily and the SJAA.

Congratulations! – Our very own, Monica King (voice, piano) has accepted the Music teacher position at Mark Twain Elementary in St. Joseph. While she’ll still be an important part of our teaching team at the Academy, we know how lucky they are to have her working with the St Joseph Public School District. Congratulations on your new position, Monica!

Bluegrass Battles Hunger – The SJAA was recently invited to participate in the annual “Bluegrass Battles Hunger”, Sept. 28 in Coleman Hawkins Park. One of the great summer festivals (and the only one centered on acoustic, bluegrass and old-time musics) the BBH benefits another of our favorite local organizations the Second Harvest Food Bank.

Pizza Par-tay – We got the teaching team together this week (nearly impossible to get us all together in the same room). It’s basically Music, Music, Music, PIZZA! Lots for us to celebrate and fun to talk and hear what everyone is doing.
Yes… we were talking about you!

** Dad’s Rock!
Father’s Day – To all of our strong, handsome and fun Dad’s, Happy Father’s Day! Hope it’s a great one for you and the family. Thank you for all you do for us here and for the musicians you love at home.

Student of the Month

Our April “Student of the Month” is…

Vivian K.!!!

We are so lucky to have Vivian and her family with us at the SJAA. An attendant of North Andrew High School, Vivian has been an active participant in musicals at her school and in the community. Vivian has been studying voice with Monica for almost a year, and her passion and enthusiasm for singing has made her a joy to teach. Not only does Vivian come prepared for every lesson, but she frequently listens to musicals and brings suggestions for new repertoire to her lessons.

We’ll celebrate Vivian with an iTunes gift card for her!

Thank you, Vivian for referring your friends and family to the Academy.

Congratulations!!!

To be considered for Student of the Month, be sure to talk to your teacher about all your musical and extracurricular activities, share pictures and refer your fellow musicians to the academy.

Summer is the best time for outdoor music and music festivals.

St. Joseph has an amazing culture for live music all summer long with FREE concerts like “Parties on the Parkway”, “Sounds of Summer”, “Hawkfest”, “JoeStock” & “Imagine Eleven”.

I always look forward to this busy season at home and on the road with so many great acts. I’ll be doing some solo work besides sharing stages with many of the great regional (and National) acts from our area. Keep and eye and an ear out for us… (Soca Jukebox, Jason Riley, Under the Influence, Under the Big Oak Tree, The Nova Project, The St. Joseph Arts Academy and More!)
